I have had the pleasure of being part of the real estate world my entire life, as my parents had rental properties and we kids were involved in all aspects of the care and keeping of those investments. My dad has an eye for real estate, the ability to see the exceptional aspects of a home, and hone in on those positive attributes. I feel his uncanny gift has been given to me, as I love looking at homes of every type, style, period, and size and learning their story.
The Navy brought my husband, Tom, and I to Whidbey Island in 1993. We soon fell in love with all the beauty and wonder Whidbey had to offer. We bought a fixer-upper in Polnell Shores, and quickly went to work to update the 70s rambler. Whidbey Island is a naturalist’s playground, so Tom and I took advantage of every outdoor activity we could. As it happens, the Navy had plans for us elsewhere, and moved us to Hanford, California, where we found the cutest cottage to remodel and welcomed our first child there. Moving again from California to the Virginia, we finally made our way back West to Whidbey Island in 2000. Tom continued to fly for the Navy and we began raising our little island girl. The home in which we lived was in dire need of a sizable remodel, so we set to work on a new layout, and with the help of my dad, ended up creating a terrific place to call home.
I believe every home has potential, so remodeling is a great love of mine. Tom and I began investing in properties to update and keep as rental investments. In 2003, we welcomed another wonderful child into our lives. Our momentum has never stopped, and our girls have learned the ropes of remodeling and rental properties, just as I had as a child. In 2005, we decided to buy a piece of property and build a new home. It was a terrific experience, working from the ground up, from framing to finish carpentry. It was through the process of building our own home we decided to start a construction company and have had great success on Whidbey for over nine years.
Through the years, I have learned a great deal about real estate, from buying and selling, to remodeling and renting; my knowledge base has grown incredibly. I understand the excitement, and sometimes the fear, of buying a home and making it my own. I want to share my enthusiasm with as many people as possible. Helping someone realize their dream of buying a home, or providing peace of mind to an anxious seller, will be a great joy. Giving the best customer service to my clients is my primary goal, as buying or selling a home is a tremendous process. I want it to be the best experience imaginable.
